Jesper’s competences cover a wide field – from establishing new factories in low-cost countries, to strategic sourcing initiatives and leading value chain optimisation cross functions and organisations. Jesper ensures focus on progress and results, while proactively engaging client stakeholders to ensure ownership and sustainability of the results achieved. He also acts as a sparring partner for management with regard to planning strategic initiatives.
What do you think is the most interesting dilemma on the business agenda right now?
Balancing growth and operations in the construction industry is a huge challenge. While companies that are too growth-focused and neglect market scarcity of competent labour may introduce non-calculated risks, highly risk-averse companies overly focused on operations may miss out on growth. Best-in-class companies manage to strike the right balance by establishing scalable operating models.
The best advice someone ever gave to you?
As a youngster, my grandfather often took me fishing, and even though we rarely caught anything, he always concluded the day saying “although we did not catch anything, at least the weather was great”. The truth is that the weather was rarely great when we went fishing, but I guess his point was that your own mindset determines if you see the beauty or not.
What does The HOW mean to you?
It means going beyond PowerPoint and nice reports to connect with people and turn plans into practical results. It makes my day, when a client contacts us several months after our exit from a transformation to share the great results they have achieved based on the work we supported.
I am deeply inspired when I hear young entrepreneurs talk passionately about an idea and how they work to turn this idea from a small seed to an international business.
