What do you think is the most interesting dilemma on the business agenda right now?
Letting go of power structures and enabling employees to deliver and grow. It is not a new thing, but still, very few managers seem to have understood that their job is to enable the employees to succeed in delivering value. Management does not create value for customers, but they can enable and remove impediments which are limiting a company or organisation in reaching its full potential.

The best advice someone ever gave to you?
Ethics and integrity are #1 – “If you can’t go home and tell your family at the dining table what you did today, then you likely didn’t do the right thing!”, said a professor at Copenhagen Business School.

Also “Make sure that every day can be a good day, not only weekends and the holidays”, said by my wife.

What does The HOW mean to you?
That if I have to print 100 posters to give managers a visual and tangible board to prioritise on, I will do it without any hesitation! We need to do what is needed. Don’t say, we should do this – no, let us do it!

I’m really inspired when I hear Jeff Sutherland (co-founder of Scrum) talk about having the sprints as short as you can. Why? Because that gives you the opportunity to assess what you have built quickly and to review how we work in order to get more effective and accelerate!

To me, Valcon means focusing on creating value together with our clients and on ensuring that our work will continue to be valuable when we leave.
